Where did you get your name from ~

I'm the 3rd woman with the same first name in my family, so I use my middle name, Saddina, also family name. Grandmother uses "Dina" and I use "Saddi" (same as english Sadie). Once we had kids I was not naming them after family, and after the whole name bottlenecking that happens in Italian families, no one complained. So my boys have scottish/Irish names as a nod to thier daddy's family (our one deviation, both of our fathers have the middle name Edward, so we used it for our youngest's middle name as well.

rebecca (suposed to be spelled like the bible but mom couldn't remeber how to spell it at the time... ann after this old lady we adopted as our grandma... we grew up in the military and we were stationed from them... we were closer to her and her husband because the kept in contact with us and spent more time with us than our own grandparents... they lost their children at an early age 1yr and 9 to freak accidents... when we moved they always traveled to see us no matter where we were... they are no longer with us...but i cherish them still... they mad a somewhat miserable childhood bearable

I'm going to assume that I was named after my grandfather Merl. He didn't like the name so he was called by his middle name, Ivan. I have the more common version of the name, Merle with an 'e' at the end. Its French and translates to Blackbird in English.

My middle name, on the other hand, is quite common. Allen, and its also my dad's middle name AND my step brother's. I would have enjoyed a middle name that wasn't shared with them. My brother got the middle name Ray, why he lucked out and not I? I'm not sure.

My mother picked it. Dear missing dad wanted to name me Henrietta.

I was supposed to be a boy but when I was born--oops--a girl!

So they picked my first name, Renee because it was different (at that time--not anymore) and my middle name became Francesca since I didn't get to be Frank Jr.

My name is my mom's middle name and my dad's middle name. As a good little southern girl, I got called both names for the better part of my childhood.

My niece has both of her great grandmother's names. It's very sweet.

Mom made up my first name; Tamra. Tami was my nickname cuz somewhere she found a name meaning that said it meant "warrior maiden" She didn't like the 3 syllable version (Tamera, Tamara, Tamora), but people always try to put in that extra vowel. I recently began putting an apostrophe in the middle though, which seems to help. Tam'ra. Still pronounced the same, but it looks cooler.
My middle name is mom's favorite character in a sci-fi series she reads... but she found out when I was six that she pronounces it wrong. Its Brekke- all one syllable (though the author says it in two)
I suppose this was the compromise since Dad wanted to call me Sheila and mom wanted me to be Rebecca... but neither name was good enough to make the other happy.
