Good morning, totally new to the forum here and hopefully soon to be new to raising some backyard chickens. I am wondering how to find a place locally that I can purchase baby chicks at. I'm in Salt Lake City.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

Check your local Tractor Supply Company, Farm & Fleet, or other feed stores. They should be getting chicks in soon.

Hi, I am in Pocatello, so welcome neighbor! (Kind-of) You should be able to search for feed stores/mills in your area. They should be receiving new chicks now and have the right feed for you to buy as well as advice on raising chickens. I know our Cal Ranch stores will be getting in chicks soon, so this is another possibility. Also, look in the Thrifty Nickel newspaper. There are ads in there.

Craigslist, feed stores post a wanted to buy on here. Most feed stores will start offering them anytime now. Some carry them almost all year long. Here in Illinois They will be avalible starting in March. I hatch all the time and sell mine on Craigslist so thats another way just be careful to make sure you get healthy chickies. On BYC we have a wanted to buy section that if there are people on here in your area that have chicks you can get from them. Hope this helps you. If you were closer I have hatched 11 so far in the past 2 weeks.

Wow, thanks everyone for the quick responses. I have a couple of CAL Ranches in the area so I'll start there and then keep going down the line of your posts.

Much appreciated.
