Usually when I put eggs in the bator I fill it up but this time I only have maybe 6 or 8 coming. Do I put them in the middle of the egg turner or closer to the sides by the heat? Thanks for your help everyone.

That would vary from one incubator to another. Just one of those things you kind of have to go with your gut, and your experience with your incubator. Maybe someone will chime in with their own experience, or what works for them.

In my hovabator the rows that hatched best were the ones in the middle on the left side, but front and back, not direct middle. Who knows why?

I would take out a few of the turner racks and put some liter bottles of water in there as heat sinks to help keep temps super stable. I would stay away from the edges of styrofoam incubators. Another thing that can help is curling a thick shirt or two around the outside edge of the bator to help keep temps stable. Keeps the bottles from rolling too if you put them inside the shirts.

I never thought about taking out some of the racks that's a good idea. Thanks I will do that this am. I'm hoping the eggs come today.

Thanks everyone.
