Where do I re-home my Roo? Ideas please?!

What's wrong with THAT?

OP says if they can't find a home he is freezer fodder anyway, so six of one, half dozen of the other, IMO.

Wonderful ideas! I will follow up on these tomorrow. My husband is ready to send him to freezer camp, lol! I'll see if I can earn Albirdo (he was Albirda for a while there) another few days!

Thank you! I can't take credit. User name "ECD" on this forum raised him from a chick....

Well, we have struck out. No takers on Albirdo. I have one last long shot before he gets the ax on Monday when the kids are at school. No one will eat him at my house and I can't find anyone who will take him to freezer camp. What a darn shame.

I can't even sell him for a dollar on Craig's list! My goodness, I need to move to the country so I don't have this problem again!

On FB we have a farm and food group. I mentioned that I had a handtame BO roo and he was requested by a lady who had a flock of hens for him, a year older that beat him up for awhile, but for him.

I did not charge her a dime. She tried to give me 20 dollars! I asked instead that if one of my hens goes Broody next summer if perhaps I could have some fertilized eggs instead. Good Luck trying to find him a home.

The only thing that helped me rehome mine was to do a google search for farms in my state.
Most of them replied saying they had too many males already, but I found a no-kill egg farm that way, and they adopted the roos.

Great idea! I'll do that. He's such a sweet roo. He crows in the am and is done by 9, so I let them out. He just dances around them and coos (and of course covers them). Yesterday I gave the a few grapes for treat & because the beagle was out, he wouldn't eat any, he let the hens have them all. Maybe next time he'll realize there's a fence between him and the beagle & he & the hens are safe, lol!

Roosters usually won't eat any treats anyway unless the ladies are done eating; otherwise, he usually offers all the treats to the girls first.

We found a home for our Roo! The guy at TSC took him! I went back to get more scratch and he said he is the only chicken, hen or roo that he can pick up! He Reeeaaalllly likes Albirdo. Apparently Albirdo was put in with the hens overnight and he got out and was found in the horse barn in the am. Eugene put him back in with the hens the next night and again Albirdo was in with the horses the next morning, lol! I am so happy he has a good home. He was/is a really good bird. Sniff sniff. I feel like a proud chciken raiser--my first roo was a successful boy & has earned himself a place at a farm.
