Where do you find fake eggs to put in nests?

Been thinking, too much as usual, are the 'ceramic' eggs everyone says they get at TSC actually ceramic?
Scratched at one with a file and a compass point, material is pretty soft...definitely not ceramic. But the filings wouldn't burn or melt either(I thought they'd be plastic). Still don't know what the heck they are made of.<scratcheshead>

Anyway I use both those and golf balls...they don't care which.

The TSC near me sells "Happy Hen Treats" brand ceramic eggs (white and brown). Curious, I looked them up to see if they would say anything more than "ceramic", but no, there is no other description beyond ceramic, anywhere online that I looked including the manufacturers website.

FWIW, I went to TSC to buy some ceramic eggs yesterday because a pullet ate an egg (possibly more than 1) and we added a nest box, so needed more. But they were really pricey. Happy Hen treats website sells them for 25% less than TSC. Amazon has several options of the same brand and other brands of ceramic eggs, some of which were 55% less than TSC (for the same brand). Anyway, I usually try to support local business, but when an item can be found for less than half the price...I can wait a few extra days for the item!

That's what I have...bought them on sale only... cause, yeah, kinda pricey.
Shipping can nail ya online tho.

Definitely have to watch shipping. My tween benefits with a Christmas present. The same ceramic eggs were very cheap on Amazon, but only as an add-on item (ship Prime)...so, I threw in an item I had been considering as a gift that was in the "save for later" list...Not sure I can say I saved money, by buying something else in order to get these eggs....but the ceramic eggs were cheap, and now I'm nearly done with Christmas shopping.

Prime is spendy, if you look at the big picture...unless you buy lots of stuff all year round.

I just wish list stuff until I hit the minimum for free shipping($35-45).

......... "You'd stop pecking eggs if you stubbed your pecker on something add hard as a ceramic egg".......... yep, that would sure stop me from..... um, never mind.
