I can't find a net for catching a chicken. Im not sure if fish nets work great because of the thin nylon and there pretty expensive.

We use a fishing net but have also heard of others usung a butterfly net. Maybe you could look on craigslist to find one?

Just Say NO to nets with chickens.
It stirs them up and makes them a nervous wreck - making it even harder to deal with them. THey tangle up in them and will tear up all but the stoutest of nets in a minute.

Instead, google the term "chicken catching hook," or "leg hook."
That is the preferred way to capture a chicken.

Above all else, do not chase them. They inevitably win such a race and you end up looking silly... or worse

despite the thin material they are pretty resiliant - although I've yet to find one a peacock can't destry most times its not the chicken that trashes your net its wire, tree limbs, nail heads, etc.

smaller holes works better imo

Never tried it, but pool net?

We inherited a fishing net with an aluminum frame. It works if you don't hit them with the frame, which is bound to happen if they're trying to get away from you. They don't destroy the netting.

We caught young turkeys out of desperation by throwing one of those rectangular laundry basket over them. Why? Because we forgot we had a fishing net!

I have used a dollar store butterfly net and its still going strong, but mostly used for catching chicks, and for herding the big ones into a corner.

We have one of those. Never had to use it so far, but we do have one. It was handmade by DH's late father some 40 years ago.
ETA: I could see where it would alot less distressing to a chicken to be caught with it instead of a net.

A net sounds like a good idea, but then I'm picturing all the legs, claws, wings, beaks caught up in the netting and I'm thinking different.

Don't know what other solution to offer you...
