I will be going to Fort Morgan, Alabama and staying in a beach house for a week. The whole family does it every year. I love the crystal white sand and swimming boating and fishing. This year I am torn between my flock and the beach. I have a good friend that will drive 20 miles each way to take care of my animals. I haven't been on here much during the day because when I get off of work, it is secure and build the run time. Here is a link to our vacation spot. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...rev=/images?q=fort+morgan&svnum=10&um=1&hl=en

I'm active duty military, so our vacations usually involve visiting family in Wisconsin or Kentucky. We'll take our motor home and find a park with some fishing and invite family and friends to come out to the campsite and visit with us. We don't have to impose on anybody, and we get a vacation without having to spend our whole time running around trying to visit with everybody.

You don't have any neighbors? We usually get one of our neighbors to open up the coop in the morning and make sure they have food and water. They just have to close up the coop at night. Our dog usually travels with us, although he's been to a kennel a few times.

I LOVE the Florida Keys! We go at least once every winter for about 10 days. We also go somewhere else for 10 days to break up the long cold winter. This fall we are planning a trip to California, maybe Nevada(San Francisco to Reno). I want to stay a night in Virginia City. I put the 2 dogs in a well known kennel and I have a neighbor who has horses, come twice a day to feed my 2 horses and tend the chickens. It cost about $250 for the dogs and around $200 for the neighbor, but I know they are taken care of. Merry

Vacation...what's that????

Over three years of chickening & don't go too far from the coop. Heck I feel guilty going to Walmart leaving them with my MIL .

We vacation at home, now. Relax, take little day trips, work on a fun project, cook interesting meals together, just live and be happy together.

When we used to travel, we had friends, neighbors or a pet sitter look after things at the house. We often traded pet sitting services with our pet owning friends and neighbors. When one of our dogs needed daily medication for a chronic illness, we hired the local vet tech to pet sit.

the last time we were thinking of going anywhere, i was going to contact the local 4H group to see if one of the older kids would mind feeding the flock.

Got any pics of your trip, Barnyard Dawg? Wow, a 3-week vacation! Lucky Dawg....

DH & I go to Kiawah Island or Litchfield Beach (SC) usually. We've thought about going to St. Simon's Island or Jekyll Island next year. My lovely neighbor and her sweet daughter look after my flock. In the fall, DH and his dad & brothers head to the Outer Banks, NC to surf fish.

We're going to Philly for 3 days to see the King and I think I'm going to have my sister stop by and check on the birds, unless I shell out $20 for a 5 day feeder waterer thing at work...But then there's the egg question...and the heat and the rain...I'm not going for 2 months and I'm a wreck already...
