Where do you keep your incubator?

Does anyone have trouble with their dogs taking an interest in the incubator, especially when the hatching starts? Our dogs sometime practice the art of 'counter surfing'.

My cat goes and sits on top of my incubator and watches the chicks as they hatch. I have to run him off because he weighs about 17lbs. I would hate for him to cave in the glass window I made in the top of the incubator. He's garfield in the making! lol

Hi! I have 4 styro incubators (3 Little Giants and a Hovabator) on a brass and glass (what's the word --- 4 shelves, would be a place for displaying dust-gathering collectibles?) thing in my bedroom.
About the dog being interested in the bators...
My dog, Darby, keeps guard in the 'Darby-cave' (under my nightstand, right next to the bators) when the chicks start pipping. She gets to welcome every chick into the world when I move them from the hatchers to the brooders and they are her 'babies' from then on.
Another plus is I can let Darb loose in any pen and the chicks don't freak out.
She wouldn't qualify as a Livestock Guardian Dog, tho. She sleeps on our bed most nights (we do make perimeter walks in most pens every night, just to keep the hoogie-boogies away

.

My cat, Streak, has learned to 'fish' under the bird room door. If a ButtonQuail (and there always seems to be a Button out) or chick is out of a pen or brooder, they are inquisitive and come to peck at his paw.
He flips the paw and pulls them right under the door.
It's pretty fascinating behavior since he has never been IN the bird room and just goes by sound.
If chicks in a brooder are left uncovered (when I'm cleaning or something) in the hall, he'll jump in the brooder and lay down under the light (??), has never bothers those chicks.
More than you wanted to know...
"I guess that after going through the process a few times, the incubator goes to a shed somewhere..."
Hatching never gets old. It's a miracle every week to me.
Lisa
