Michigan there is not places to hunt. The people are scared of the sew happy people.
I have written waivers and signed them before I went and asked to hunt and showed them that they would not be responsible of me on there land.
Then I have the farms that let the state leases the land to hunt and that starts a whole big fight.
I know of people that have 250 acres down the road and a farmer that did the state lease program next to them farmer had 600 arces well the people talked the farmer into leasing it to them.
Deer Quality Management which is fine but kill the Does. They dont kill does because there horn hunts I hunt for feeding my family.
Welcome to AthoroughBredNamedBabe, I am in the UP of MI and I can tell ya why the farmers stopped letting people hunt on their land. It is because they get paid more from the Government in crop damage then they can make selling the crop.
Boyd as far as shooting all year round up here there is big fines and you can lose your guns and hunting rights for a very long time as well as sit in prision. So if ya listen to that person who told you they don't care if ya violate, well you are taking risks if ya get caught.
Crop permits for farmers are given every year and yes they kill the does with these permits but you must remember for every buck there is 50 or more does, so to control the population of the deer the does have to be managed as well.
That said I get all the venison I want as my brother David is the one the farmers in his town call to harvest the crop permits. He then finds out who in the area needs help and he brings these deer to the needy familys in the area. I don't ask for venison very often as we ate tons of it as a kid, I am the last of 13 kids my family had it hard but we were raised with God in our lives, taught the values of honesty and hard work, were loved and ate plenty. Can't ask for more than that.
Hunting is being ruled right out of exsistance. Here in MI they have raised the cost for out of state people to hunt to a blown out of the water price. That is one way to ensure that no money is made for MI. Soon we will be a ghost state.

Ha! Trenary is quickly becoming a ghost town.
Anyway, I still shoot bucks from my bedroom window.
I hear ya there went thru your town last week and couldn't believe the empty places and for sale signs. On a good point you are close to my favorite vet in Harvey, Dr. Hunt.
we are still hunting fishing and traping like crazy here in southern illinois . yet the wildlife population seems to grow every year. btw i am a trigger happy gun slingin s.o.b. yet i still have plenty of predators around here. i love it when i find predators that arent afraid of me it makes for better target pratice.....

Oh trust me, I wouldn't do this, just reporting on what somebody else told me... besides all the trouble, they can and will deny you hunting / fishing licenses
Not worth it to me anyways, I can usually get what I need.
Finding a place to hunt is the issue here as well. Hubby and I both were licensed last year, but we really didn't have a place to hunt. One spot is on my mom's land, she has 10 acres backed against miles and miles of farm land.. We hunt there and just hope that the target does go too far, in order for us to retrieve it.
Then a gentleman from church took hubby with him to hunt feral hog, but it was in a hunting club. And boy, are hunting clubs EXPENSIVE! I don't know about you but $500 a year for membership and then additional fees for maintenance and bait, is outrageous.
I am hoping to plant a feed plot in a small portion of our horse pasture. Maybe lure in some stragglers before the 40 acre subdivision pops up next to us, blocking us in.
