Where in Ventura county, CA can i raise chickens?? I might but a land or hpuse tp do so. Please help. Thanks Lores59

DO NOT call the town/county and ask. You can't rely on anything they tell you.

Instead, look up the code yourself. Its HERE.

Now do a keyword search. Anybody's guess what language the city/county/state will use, but "chicken", "rooster", "fowl", "poultry", "avian", "livestock" will usually hit the highpoints.

First hit on "chicken" - a zoning chart. Read it. Now you know what to tell your realtor, based on how many birds you want to have.

You also want to read this. and to check the required setbacks and permitting for "accessory buildings" (which vary by purpose and zoning) to make sure the lot you choose is big enough for the coop and run you want.

Finally, and this in essentially EVERY code, you want to keyword search "At Large" and read the sections that follow. That tells you what happens if your chickens escape your yard, or if the neighbors cat/dog intrudes upon your yard and starts attacking your livestock.
