Has anyone seen my 3 month old silkie? She is gone ... just gone and I am sick over it. I cannot find her anywhere. I even had to make myself check the dog kennels to see if she had wandered to her demise at the paws of my dogs. Not a trace.
I don't know how she could have gotten out. She doesn't usually even leave the coop. She is not very adventurous, and really, even less bright. Anytime she leaves the coop, I have to put her back in. She stands by the ramp at the door and cries in distress. I had to put a ramp up to the water because she would not hop onto the cinder block to get water. The run is covered, so nothing could have swooped in to chick-nap her.
I have looked in every nook and cranny in the coop and run, even under the ramp. Even had a fiasco when I turned a straw bale over to see if she had fallen behind. I felt something crawling on my leg and reached down and felt my pants and thought I had the world's largest bug crawling inside my pant leg. I about had a heart attack and desperately shook my leg to rid myself of the creature ready to disrobe to get rid of whatever it may be. It was only a mouse which my 3 month old barred rock proceeded to chase around the coop. The rest of the chooks were scared of it
Still no silkie.
I have hunted our woods and overturned everything she could hide under. I even stood on the edge of our property and visually searched around the neighbor's coop and yard. I fear that my poor little silkie is gone. The little chick that I did not even want but who managed to steal my heart and make me want more silkies. Gone without a trace, not even a poor, sad, little body to lay to rest.
If anyone sees my poor, lost silkie, please tell her I am desperately searching for her and send her home.
