I am looking for ideas on how to store eggs at 55 degrees and high humdity before starting incubation. My garage is fine at this time of year but when it starts to heat up.... not so good.

I have thought about getting a refrig and then plugging it into a thermostat with a remote sensor that is inside the frig that will cut power when it get too cold.
Thought about using a wine cooler but none seem to get good reviews for being reliable. I use egg turners so it would have to be a pretty big space.

could use the crawl space under my house... but there are a few reasons why I don't favor that solution...

.... any ideas!!

thanks!!

I was thinking of trying one of those small micro fridges that is really only large enough for a few sodas.

Anyone else use this???

I was thinking of using a sm refrig I have but even when I had it turned all the way down... it was still too cold.... and too small for my eggs turner

I think all of those are very good ideas, but eggs do better than I ever imagined at room temperature as long as it doesn't get terrible hot. Last year I hatched a bunch of eggs for my neighbor that kept them in a bucket on the front steps of her house for at least two weeks, it got pretty warm during the day and I hatched about 90 percent of the eggs she gave me. I did not candle them so not sure if the ones that did not hatch were fertile or not.

Not saying that 55 isn't better, but I think coolish works pretty good if you dont have a fridge to set up.

Years ago I had a house that had a cellar... LOVED it!! yes.. perfect for keeping eggs.. and a lot of other things.

hmmmm... wonder if I could justify the expense of building a cellar so I have a "proper" place for my eggs????
