Where or how do you store eggs at 55 degrees before incubating??

I've talked with a good many folks who just keep their to-be-hatched eggs in their refrigerators. They're not at the perfect 55 degrees and 75% humidity, but they still got good hatches.

I gave my step-dad a dozen of my sale eggs out of the refrigerator to hatch. They'd been in there a few days and had been washed, but he got 10 out of 12 to hatch.

My bantam and standard eggs stay fine in my vegi ben that reads 38 deg to 45 degrees in temp.... I also wrap each in a paper towel and turn them three times a day.... Has worked so far....

I have been reading a lot online about chickens, chicks, incubating, etc. Trying to get up to speed as fast as I can without resorting to the school of hard knocks.

I wanted to hatch some chicks this spring, so my son said he would start his incubator for me. I sent him home with 33 eggs. I kept them in the room where I now have my incubator going ( 41 eggs ) . I checked the temperatur guage and it stayed roughly at 70 degrees in that room. I held onto the eggs for the first hatch for 3 days and for my hatch, 4 days. All kept at the 70 degrees.
My son candled about a dozen eggs the other day and said they look good to him. The eggs are dark brown and somewhat hard to candle. I am not going to candle mine, just hoping for the best

Could you keep the eggs in a picnic type cooler....just add some ice cubes at the bottom, and keep the eggs up off of them..not touching the ice.....and maybe keep the top open, so it does not get too cold. I would think too cold would be harder on the eggs than too warm. And put a temp guage in there with them.
