Where should I order my chicks from?

I am not sure where to order my chicks from. I do not want them to trim beaks or vaccinate. I need to be able to order only 3+.

Cackle is excellent in my experience. Out of the thousands of birds I've worked with from five or six different hatcheries theirs are always the best in quality and health. And very rarely have I seen mistakes in their orders.

Seems great but it says I have to order 3 or more of each type of bird. I meant that I can only have up to 5-6 chick so I need to be able to only order 3+ not like 15 like other hatcheries will make you do. I already know which breeds I would like but I would only be ordering 1 of each breed. Thanks though!

My Pet Chicken allows small orders. How small depends on where you live. You may be able to find someone and split a larger order or we have a feed store near us that has a myriad of choices and no minimum. You must either order three weeks in advance to get what you want or take your chances on what they have. You might find something similar if you check around.

I have ordered from both Meyer and Murray McMurray hatcheries. As far as I can tell I would stay away from Murray McMurray if you need smaller numbers. Meyer does offer a minimum of 3 chicks during a certain part of the year. During the cooler months they do require a minimum of 15 chicks. But I second with dekel18042 in that you may want to see if there is someone you can split an order with.

You are most welcome. I forgot to mention that Meyer does include the option to not include a vaccination and I don't recall any mention of beak clipping. Also if you have one for maybe one more then they have a "Meal Maker" program where they send you an extra random chick similar to what you order for free and all they ask is that you donate the eggs/meat(depending on the gender your order is) to a needy family. Their mission is that if every chicken owner did this then we could feed so many families.

I like My Pet Chicken. Most of my birds are from them. As said it depends on the distance from a major city as far as if you can only order 3. You can put in your zip code when ordering and they will let you know your minimum.
