I have seen several coop designs that show the feed inside. I have always placed my feed and water outside. Is it better to put the feed and water in the coop or in the outside run? Is there a good way to get my hens to stop wasteing so much feed? They scoop it out with their beaks right on to the ground.

I think it is your choice. If it will get rained on or attract predators maybe inside is better, but it is really up to you.
What food are you using? Many people say that there is less waste with pellets, rather than crumbles.

Where you place your feeder and waterer is a matter of choice. Everyone has their own preference. I keep my food and waterer in the coop, with an additional waterer out in the run in warmer weather. I do not have a covered run, and I don't want my food to get rained on. I also do not have a place to take the food into every night, and I would never leave it out overnight due to wildlife in the area...don't want to offer an all you can eat buffet to the locals! My birds have their feed/water 24/7. Although I get up at 5:30 am M-F, on weekends I like to sleep in a couple of hours:p I know they'll be able to drink and nibble before I let them out for the day:)

In my first chicken coop and run, which were both built to be "varmint-free", I only had their food and water in the run. I never closed the door between the coop and the run so they could go and come as they pleased. It's really a matter of preference; no right or wrong really.

I dont think it matters if you buy Pellet or crumble food, in our experiance our chickens wast alot more pellets then crumbles. So, we stick to crumbles! And we keep our food and water in the run, but thinking of making another feeder to place in the coop!
