do u have a barnevelder or any alike in ur flock?
I don't own any barnevelders but I do have a few dark brown / brown egg layers like my Black copper marans. My mixed flock includes BCM's, white leghorns, brown lexlinks, buff orph, barred rock & australorp. Enjoy your chicken journey - so many wonderful breeds :)

Hello!
Welcome to BYC! I really like Cochins, they lay well, are heat and cold tolerant, mine are anyway and are very pretty and make great mothers.

Welcome to BYC from California wine country in the Western Sierra Foothills. :frow

I have a large and very mixed flock of fifty some hens, two roosters, around twenty juvenile chickens, five Toulouse geese, four turkeys, and 27 Cayuga ducks. There are large fowl breeds and bantams, lots of different breeds, so my flock is quite colorful. Oh! and a young peacock just showed up a week ago to join the flock.

One of my hens is a bantam barnevelder (since you inquired about that breed).

Not only is BYC addictive due to the great number of helpful, informative and FUNNY members, but chickens themselves just seem to become something you want MORE of - a new breed, or wanting to the flock to reproduce because mama hens and chicks are so darned cute.

Although it is hard for me to pick a favorite breed, I think I can admit I am partial to Orpingtons of any color.
