Hi everyone!
I'm new here so I'll introduce myself and ask a question all in one post.
My name is Martin. I live in Melbourne, Australia with my partner and our two young boys and have had chickens for about a year and a half.
I currently have three Barnevelders that I move around the garden in a mobile coop, protected by portable electric netting. These girls have done a fine job of weeding, fertilizing, pest management and providing us with eggs. It seems however, that their laying is slowing down as we're only getting one egg every second day and being a dual purpose bird we're now thinking about harvesting them.
The Barnevelders have been good all in all but I have a few complaints and I'm thinking of getting another breed next. They are:
Many thanks -Martin

The Barnevelders have been good all in all but I have a few complaints and I'm thinking of getting another breed next. They are:
- They have been too picky, often refusing most of our scraps.
- They have been quite flighty (disappointing to the boys...)
- They were expensive to purchase.
Many thanks -Martin
