Where to buy Angus mix steer calves?

Just a comment. First of all, your best bet to find a steer is the auction. If you can find an Angus Jersey cross, it would be ideal. The flavor of Jersey beef is unmatched. It is truly delicious. Also, the steer would be a little on the smaller side when finished and that is an advantage for most families. Find out if there are any Jersey dairies near you. A lot of time dairymen will breed some of their heifers to a beef bull, and in the case of Jerseys, that would be an Angus

We've raised holsteins and Angus and Hereford. We prefer the size of the Angus mix; turns out to be more cost-effective. And I can't tell the difference in flavor between the 3! THey're all fantastic!

Our last guys were 685# hanging weight. Sold to 8 friends and still have a full freezer.

Check with the nearby large animal veterinary clinics for leads to farms who may have what you are looking for. Buying calves right at a farm who does a good job raising healthy animals will be a really good idea. Sale barns and auctions can bring you critters with shipping fever, at least.

You have barns in Staley, Shelby, Stokes, Norwood, Turnersburg, Monroe, Mt. Airy, Wilkesboro, Richfield and others. Call them to find the sale date. I would be surprised if most don't have angus cross feeders and young steers for sale.
