Hello Everyone. I'm looking for some more hatcheries to buy my chicks from. I have bought chicks from Welp hatchery in the past, but recently had some trouble wit them. So i'm trying to find some more hatcheries that offer Cornish cross chicks at a decent price and a good reputation. Thanks!

Nearly every hatchery has them as far as I know. Where are you located? Sometimes there are less advertised hatcheries relatively local that can offer good deals.
I live in Northern Maine. I have no hatcheries around me. The closest hatcheries to me are still at least a two day drive away.

Ah okay. Assuming you are near Jonesport the closest I know is the Poultry Hatchery, and they are 10 hours away.

Moyers is in Quakertown PA, which is another good option for not having them travel as far. It looks like 50 would be about $100 shipped from them, and they do have other broiler options available. The Poultry Hatchery is only a few dollars more.

ETA I was getting those prices using estimated shipping to Island Falls but your shipping should be about the same regardless if you are further north or east.

I'd recommend Hoover Hatchery. Free shipping on orders over 15. Looks like you can get them for $1.40 for mixed run. If you get 25, it drops to $1.25.

My current birds are from there and I've been happy with them. They got here the day after they shipped, but I'm only one state over so travel was minimal.

They do have a website if you want to look.

Ah yes, I forgot about Hoovers and their free shipping.

I got chicks from them earlier this year and lost 90% of them, but I think it had to do with the vaccine. They did ship and arrive fast, though, if I recall correctly.

Ouch. That's not good. I've lost 2 out of 30. They are 6 weeks now. I have a thread below on the mortality, but it was probably heart issues compounded by a heat wave.

Mine were regular dual purpose breeds. I ordered them in March. I also had a batch from Ideal and some from my regular flock and they did not experience the same mortality, so it was something to do with shipping or possible vaccinations. The invoice said they were vaccinated and I called them to ask about it and they said since it was stamped on there they were "probably" vaccinated but were certain if they were and what for.

I did get my money back for the losses but I still felt bad for all of them. They were so sick.

ETA I do think it was a fluke thing, though, and would not let that deter you from ordering the Cornish from them, especially at that price (about $30 for 25 can't be beat)
