I want to buy some hatching eggs from online; any recommendations? I have an incubator all set up but am not having much luck with my own eggs. However, I do have one due Saturday so crossing my fingers.

Anywho, back on the topic of online eggs... I have looked at McMurray's but they are awfully expensive, especially if some don't end up hatching.

If you haven't had much luck with your own eggs, I'd suggest searching local farms on Craigslist before graduating to more expensive shipped eggs. Even mixed backyard flock fertile eggs are a good start. Once you have the process down, then you can venture on to more expensive eggs.

Are you looking for a specific breed? Have you checked your local craigslist or a local poultry club (many areas have poultry clubs for their areas with fb pages.) My last hatch I bought locally from another breeder that I was hooked up with through a local area poultry page on fb. Locally would be cheeper and theoretically have better hatch rates.

You must type faster than me...lol

I am looking for some oriental laying hens... I know that I'm not guaranteed that all the eggs will be hens, but I can certainly hope. I have looked on craigslist but couldn't find much, but I will check fb.I had Ameraucanas, polish, etc. but the foxes got a hold of them.

Welcome to BYC! :)

Hatching eggs very in price depending on quality, breed and location so you have to balance these factors when deciding what to choose.
I would look on the buy sell trade section there you will see all the different eggs people are selling over BYC and can see if any take your fancy:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/36/chicken-hatching-eggs
If you have particular breed in mind then just say and I'm sure I will be able to point you in the way of a great breeder. If not and you just are looking for a fancy egg basket then there are a couple of sellers who specialise in just that:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/36/chicken-hatching-eggs

You mention having trouble hatching your own so it might be an idea to read this hatching guide by SallySunshine, she is the hatching guru on here and her guide is very in depth which is especially important when hatching shipped eggs. :) :

Hope that helps : )

Thank you very much! We have the chickens merely for our own entertainment and love to watch them run around in our yard. We aren't looking for great layers (we already have a bunch of those!). So I will check out those links.. also thank you for the suggestion about reading SallySunshine's guide.
