Hello and welcome to BYC! I would assume craigslist would be a good start. You could also ask around the farm stores too, maybe they know someone or sell chickens themselves.

I called the feed stores and local Co-op in my area and they were more than happy to tell me who had chickens for sell. They also suggested putting a flyer up to let people know I was looking for chickens to buy. Just an idea.

Around here, the 4 H poultry clubs sell started pullets in conjunction with the local fairs. Going price is $50 for 6 pullets. Pretty good deal.

Thanks all for the info. What I'm hoping to get is laying hens that are already laying. Now then I'm such a green horn and have 10 million questions, but will settle for a couple for now..lol
I plan on shutting the chickens in the coop at night----Do I still need to bury the fence part way in the ground? Also what is the best feed to feed them?
