Hello, my name is Dane, & i live in Wirtz Va. I am looking to purchase and or pick up chickens nobody wants, but i can not seem to get anywhere. Anybody have any suggestions. I can b text at [email protected]. my coop has been sitting over a year with no occupants.

You might want to edit out your email address.

Have you checked the online hatcheries...they mail them to your house.

You could get some online. Or a nearby feed store they usually sell chicks. Most people who give away chickens give away roosters or old hens which are less common than the roosters even then though you don't really want old hens because they don't lay any eggs much.
 
Yes, your state's thread is where you want to go. That way you can find your local people. Most likely you will find someone who has extra chickens, or people who can point you in the right direction. You can use the link that was just given to you, or you can use the search engine to find other threads associated with your state, county, or city. Although, sometimes there aren't any THAT local.
 
Also try local papers, craigslist see if anyone has some they need to get rid of in your area. Sometimes you can ask around and find people in your area that have chicks that hatched and they need to get rid of some of them. Put up flyer at your local feed store. These are all ways to get chickens or chicks. Good luck.
