I’ve never actually had them happen but I am going to be taking precautions and I’m going to quarantine the new birds.
Good job! I would too just be safe and it is recommended to quarantine for 30 days by most poultry experts. Hope you have separate housing and run. One fellow on BYC saved his flock through a quarantine, had a new bird that appeared healthy and fell ill during the quarantine. He was able to save both new bird and flock because he quarantined from the get go with any new flock members to determine if bird was healthy enough or not to enter his flock. I would also make sure all vaccinations that are recommended have been given. Having some vaccinated and some not especially in young birds leaves room for error and disease to set in.
