J3172....where are you located? I see a lot of posts mentioning farm stores that aren't in my area. I have 8ft woven wire deer fencing, found at my local Coastal Farm Supply. I found 36"X25' green ploy covered 1" hex chicken wire at a small farm/feed store for only $10. (the big stores wanted $25-$40. for the exact same stuff!), then I also added the 8ft poly covered wire Deer Fencing over that. Comes in 165ft or 330ft rolls. A bit expensive, but has a 20+ year warrenty. The stuff that Lowes or Home Depot, doesn't come anywhere near the strength quaility of the farm specific fencing, etc. that you can find at Farm Stores. You just need to do a little investigating and leg work to find what you need. Hope this helps.

Bump on a old topic but one I'm sure people look into on a regular basis. I'm trying to find material to fence in a 15' x 20' space that already is enclosed using a paddock fence and 2" x 4" PVC coated fencing. From research it would seem that the way to go is 1/2" x 1/2" fencing.

Below is the best pricing I've been able to find for 1/2" x 1/2" PVC coated hardware cloth that is 4' x 100' in length/width (with shipping to my location (Maryland))::

½” x ½” 19 Gauge 48" x 100' Black ($205 + $59 Shipping)
0.41” x 0.41” 19 Gauge 48" x 100' Black ($260 + $92 Shipping)
½” x ½” 19 Gauge 48" x 100' Black ($165 + $83 Shipping)

Below is pricing for PVC coated fencing shorter than 4':
½” x ½” 21 Gauge 24" x 75' Black ($95 + FS)
½” x ½” 19 Gauge 24" x 150' Black ($179 + FS)

Obviously non-PVC coated is much cheaper. Here's what I've been able to find with non-PVC coated:
· 3’ x 100’, 23 Gauge Galvanized, 1/4" x 1/4" ($122)
· 4’ x 50’, 19 Gauge Galvanized, ½” x 1/2” ($65)

T The final price from Walmart seems the most inexpensive way to go. I do have some questions though and would appreciate any advice/guidance forum members can give:

1 1. How much longer can I expect a PVC coated fence to last vs. a galvanized fence (if both fences were the same gauge)?
2. Has anyone been able to find a better price than this for 1/2" x 1/2" PVC or non-PVC coated fencing and if so, from where?
3. My biggest predator concern are foxes and racoons. The ducks will be kept locked in a coop at night. Do you think 1/2" X 1/2" fencing is necessary?
4. I've seen many individuals cover the top of their chicken/duck yard with poultry netting. I've also seen videos of foxes climbing on to poultry netting and getting through it no problem. What are people's mentality about material used to cover a run?
