Hi - I have three Indian runner ducks that are two weeks old. I've bought Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks and am now slowly moving them from duck starter food from Albers to Albers waterfowl food, also called "Three Way". It has 16% protein and a niacin supplement, and seems to match up with the recommendations for 2 week old ducks in the book.

The book also recommends VMP Poultry Pac vitamins. I haven't fed the ducks any vitamins yet, and I called around to several stores (Witicha, Naomi's, Wilco) and no one has those vitamins. Can anyone provide a resource or a recommendation for other good duck vitamins in the area?

It also says to move ducks from eating all they can eat to just 2 to three times a day and the amount they can eat in 10 minutes. Is this to save money on feed, or is it to keep them healthy? Can they have more if they want it? I don't want them to be hungry.
(Is this why my cat is so fat, LOL).

Here's a cute video of them splashing around in a tub and doing other stuff:

I think it is to prevent obesity. Fat Runners don't do well and look like Pekins or Rouens. People won't believe they are Runners if you want to sell eggs from them. Keep them skinny & upright. I know this from experience, mine got fat! Lol. Any poultry vitamins are fine. Most feed stores & poultry catalogs have them. Peter Brown of First State Vet Supply has them too.

I have no idea how to feed ducklings, mine are coming in a couple weeks. I do have to say every time I read that book I get a little overwhelmed. There seems to be so much to raising ducks. Sorry I'm no help. Good luck! Keep the videos coming, that was adorable!
