I am looking for one or two chocolate turkey males and ameraucana males. To keep my breeding gene pool good. Or does it matter in fowl if I breed siblings or parents to offspring?

You can breed kids with parents, and kids with kids!
True, but you don't want to continue breeding siblings to siblings, since it can cause problems in the long run.

So sons can be bred to their mothers for good while, & daughters can be bred to fathers for a good while too, longer then breeding siblings together.

You can also take the offspring, & breed back to the grandparents.

:welcome:frow The other posts are correct. I breed pure (heritage) birds for exhibition/showing. I do not breed siblings but do breed parent stock to offspring. I grow out all of my chicks and keep the best as future breeders. To get one or two birds maybe you can find a breeder for your chosen breeds. I do not cross lines (line breeding). I do maintain different family groups of the same lines. When I do introduce a new bird/birds to my flocks I get the new birds from reputable breeders who have my same lines. This is just the way I do it but I'm also breeding for showing at poultry shows. Good luck and have fun...

Thank you. But that's were I'm having a problem. When I try to find breeders I only get hatchery links. And hatcheries only sell in bulk. It's a bit frustrating. Lol

When I first decided on what breeds I wanted to specialize in I went to poultry shows. Many of the country's top breeders show their birds. I found some I fell in love with and located the owner/breeder and made an arrangement to get some birds. I absolutely love them. My specialties are:
Pure (Heritage) Single & Rose Comb Rhode Island Reds, Rose Comb Rhode Island Whites, Single Comb White & Rose Comb Dark Brown Leghorns.
Here are some pictures of my champion Rhode Island Reds my White Leghorn who was a reserve champion.

They are beautiful. I don't know what there are for shows in this area. I will check around. Thanks for the idea.
