Where to give away my rooster?

thanks. checking with them now.

I know the answer is mostly no, but still want to ask if it'd be wise to release him into the wild. I know probably won't survive, but at the same time, giving him to these people also means he likely won't survive either.

Also speaking of wild chickens, I know Hawaii islands have a lot of wild chickens, so it's not entirely true that chickens won't survive in the wild. :)
Hawaii doesn't have coyotes, foxes, coons etc, release him into the woods here, and he'll have a violent death in less than a week. You won't be doing him any favors.

Not just unwise, its irresponsible to offload your problems onto some unsuspecting other. Appreciate you not doing that. Among other things, dumping birds is a great way to unknowingly accelerate the spread of disease at speeds faster than it can otherwise travel, and to expose poultry to things they may have no resistance to.

I had an accidental rooster last year that was supposed to be a sexed pullet. I posted on the "rehome a rooster" thread on this site. Within an hour of posting, a local chicken keeper had arranged to pick him up. By the end of the week he was living the high life in a "bachelor pad" on the other side of town!

You could also start your own thread in that section and see if it gets more attention. Maybe somebody there can help you out.

So you don't want to give him away to people who might not seem sincere, but you question whether or not it's a good idea to release him into the wild? 😬
I'm not sure where you're located, but the feral/wild/jungle fowl chicken population in Hawaii is not comparable to most places.

I just posted in the thread... thanks to TheFrogLady's excellent suggestion.

Another controversial idea that came to mind is to get a no-crow collar. I know I might be stirring another pot by asking feedbacks on this one... but I am inclined towards trying it if I can't find a trustable source to adopt/take him. 😌

Absolutely NOT.

As others have said, it's incredibly irresponsible and I'm glad that you weren't seriously considering it.

There is nothing wrong with passing an unwanted cockerel along to a person who will make good use of him as a good meal -- giving him a clean and easy end.

I have heard that some zoos take cockerels to feed their animals.

It's not likely to work well. Usually it only dampens the crow when it's tight enough he can't breathe properly. Not to mention he can get hung up and strangled some where
