Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. I am perfectly comfortable letting my Serama hens hatch and raise chicks with the rest of the Serama flock they never have and probably never will seriously harm chicks. My full sized chickens are a bit more unpredictable as I know they are more aggressive and could kill a chick easily. That is why when someone hatches chicks in the main flock I usually move them into the Serama coop
