I will be getting another coop and some new chicks in the spring. I plan to brood the chicks in their coop and I could brood the ducklings on the screened porch, where my chicks were brooded last year.
I don't know where to house the ducks after they are old enough. There's room for them in my current coop, but I'm worried about the mess the ducks are sure to make. I'm also not sure how my current flock would take to sharing their coop with newcomers. They are very set in their ways now and dislike change of any kind.
If I want ducks am I going to have to figure out a seperate house for them alone?
ETA: I'm only talking about maybe three ducks.

Yep, ducks are messy. They need their own space and preferably a pond. They will wallow the waterer until it looks like a pig sty!
Now I'm not a duck owner (anymore) so if you duck lovers want to take a crack at my comments .... Bring it on!

I second that! I currently have 3 month old Moscovy ducklings in a 4x8 coop with 4 Seramas, they do make a big mess-especially the waterers! Mine are going to the pond as soon as they get their feathers in.

So how 'bout making them a small coop of their own down by the pond? I could go there every evening to lock them up. Better yet, since I plan to get runners I maybe could herd them back up closer to the house and into their own little coop?
The pond is not within site of the house. Our little pond which is within site of the house dried up.

Craigslist always has free or cheap dog houses. that would be perfect for a few ducks.

We have one of those in the backyard already.

It was big enough for the border collie, but won't be near big enough for the GSD.
Hmmm, a little blue paint, maybe some smaller ducks.

Mine only use their house to sleep in. They run my yard the rest of the day. So really anything that they can all fit into and have a bit of room to walk around in would work fine.
