I got a stupid attack yesterday and offered to help out a friend.
Thought it was going to be fairly easy, but NOT!
I need help and since there is such a broad range of people here maybe someone can get me going in the right direction.

Now our friend lost all of his medical and military records in a fire.
I am trying to find them without having to pay one of these sites to do it for me.

He was at Fort Lewis Washington Jan.-Mar. 1969. Then onto Fort Benning, GA; continued to Fort Bragg, NC; Brunsum, Neatherlands; finally Furth, Germany 1971.

Is there a site that has these types of recorders are availible?
The VA is not willing to help him he has been fighting them for over 4 years.

BUMP

I hope you get your thingys done

The VA is about worthless as far as I am concerned. The Army still owes me about $1600 from 1989 I finally gave up. I know one of the file storage places burned up and most of the records were lost but I don't remember if that was in the 60s or early 70s. I know my Dad and Uncles files were all burned up.

wow, wasn't that convenient!

Sorry I can't help...the one place that should help him obviously won't... nice way to say "thanks" to our vets huh!

Can you locate a local DAV (disabled american veterans) office and see if they can help. Or even a VFW might be able to help. I live just outside of Ft.Benning (literally its my back yard lol) so if theres anything I can do to help just ask.

Those records should be on microfisch somewhere. Getting to them is going to be a problem, but I would suggest using the resources stated above as a start.

Thank you for the info.

I have contacted the DAV and am now waiting to hear back from them.
I sure hope they can help him.
