where to place the bulb for diy bator

Making my own incubator. My husband is placing the bulb In the bottom and putting wire about half way up on the box to hold the eggs. All the homemade ones I have seen have the light in the side. Does it matter where the light is placed?

Yes, it does matter.

You want it as centrally located as possible. I prefer the double bulb system as it allows for fail safe, should a bulb burn out, the second bulb can maintain the temp until the burnt out bulb is noticed and replaced.
