where to put a waterer and what kind

I move my tractors around so the auto won't work. I have used the bistro but they poop in it and it will will grass. etc even on a 2x4. I think the bunny waterer will be easy to attach to the side and will stay clean. Anyone else successfully use this?

We use an upside down tomato cage, over a one gallon waterer. We wrapped scraps of chicken wire over the top (well, its really the bottom but it's upside down) part, and ended the chicken wire about 3-4 inches from the water dish. We also left the prongs sticking up on the cage. And we put the waterer on a pair of bricks to raise it up off the floor. There is a tiny bit of sand in it each evening when I clean and fill it, but never any poop.
