I was just wondering what everyone else does when their chicks are about to hatch. do you just put them in the bottom of the incubator? do you put them inside of something? or do you do something else? I know that during the incubation process the tip of the egg needs to be pointing down but what about when they are hatching? I want to hear from other people about what they do for the big hatch!!

Hi:)

It's up to you, some people lay them in the bottom of the incubator, others put them in egg cartons.

I lay mine on the bottom of the incubator, on a clean paper towel, to help out with clean up. :)

Some people also have a 'hatcher'. Basically a seperate incubator just for lockdown.

whatever you want to do. Experiment and see which ways you have better hatch results:)

Good luck!

I look at it this way, I'm playing the role of Mother HEN so how does she handle her eggs. She lays them down, I lay mine down, the only time when I have used the egg carton way is when my shipped eggs have loose air cells. This helps because then I know exactly what eggs may not make it since there were problems from the begining.. I have tried to put the eggs in a cup cake holder for easy clean up, but it didn't work out really good because the chicks climb all over them and made a mess anyway.. I will try the paper towels this time hoping that clean up won't be so bad but will see...
