Forty years ago I was 12 and my DH was 14 klicks south of D'nang , Viet Nam , wishing he was at Woodstock.

I was 9. Our family had just moved from Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines to Iraklion Common Defense Installation in Crete, Greece. Both places had limited and censored news. However, at 9, the news was still boring. I am not sure when I finally heard about Woodstock but I think the movie eventually made the base theater and the military, in it infinite wisdom, showed it at the kiddie matinee. That is also how I got to see "Head" with the Monkees.

I was 12 and getting ready to start the 7th grade Just starting Jr. high school and a whole new stage of life..... I don't know if we realized just how important the things that were going on were, like the Moon walk and the hippie generation and the War in Viet Nam was on TV every night on the news.... Watergate was still a few years away and we were constantly worried about a Nuclear war with the USSR We lived by Tinker Air Force Bace in Oklahoma City and there were all kinds of planes flying over the house, all the time. We were at war and knew it.

I was 17 I loved the music but thought all those people were dirty and drugged up and guess what I was right! never wanted to be there or have flowers in my hair .
Real folks had family dying in vietnam at that time.

On Monday I'll be 44. I was an almost 4 year old child and my mother had just married my step-father when I was just 3. My mom was pregnant with my little sister.

I am fascinated with woodstock and actually won a poetry contest with a poem that I wrote about it. Not that I was ever into the drug scenario, but the music and the love of it all just fascinates me.

I was a terrible two year old, busy lighting the house on fire, Lol! That really happened! Luckily in Belgium, all the houses are made of brick.
