Where would you get your Muscovies?

I want to get some muscovies and have been looking all over the place for some. I want to get day-olds, as I have a rotten duck hatch rate (0%) even though I've had 100% with geese, don't know why...

Anyway, where would you get muscovies? I don't want to get 20, I'd like somewhere between 6-15...

I emailed you in the past for muscovy ducklings but got no response. I was fortunate to find 16 muscovy ducklings for a buck each at a local swap in June!

You might check around to see if there are some swaps locally where you can pick some ducklings up. Muscovies are very common and they breed profusely!

Indeed, Muscovies do get in the water. But ducks don't HAVE to mate in water. Muscovies crossed with other ducks produce a "mule"--a sterile hybrid. In the Orient, white Muscovies are often crossed with white Pekins to produce meat ducks.

I got mine from a fellow BYC'er ahbee01. She was even nice enough to bring them. I got them wen they were a week old. I should have some next year. A good place to get them is countryhatchery or the Hoffman(sp?) hatchery in Pa.You can fine the web adress in the list over in the raising baby chicks section. THose are the only two hatcheries that sell them.

We got ours' from www.jmhatchery.com

All were healthy. We did use them as meat ducks but plan
to order more when we have a pond someday.
