Where'd my new av go?

If bred correctly, miniature (and even toy) poodles are EXACTLY like their standard counterparts...only smaller. The breed standard is exactly the same. The goal is to have a smaller dog that is indistinguishable from the original version. I like to think that I've pulled it off with my best minis.

I had a mini poodle growing up, and she was great. But I have to admit that I absolutely LOVED my standard. Totally awesome dog. I'm afraid that the lil ones I dealt with at the vet clinic were ill-bred, fear-biting twits, so my opinion is a bit skewed! Great avatar, BTW!

Yup--sadly, since they are so popular, backyard breeders really crank out the small dogs, and poodles are one of the #1 mass-produced-for-profit breeds. So most of the ones that people see are specimens who wouldn't even be recognized as a poodle under the breed standard.
