I hatched 15 Black Australorps, some are black and white at a day old and a few are solid black. Does anyone know which ones are most desirable or does it matter?

If you are using them for show, you almost have to wait until after their first molt.

they all will be black when they get older, but the ones that showed more yellow down will have more green shine...

keep those for showing

almost all chicks who are going to be all black have white on them as chicks my ameraucana chicks have white on them i have a coulple all black ones!! they be nice when they are older!! just wait it out i wouldnt make any decisions until the have all their feathers at least because the chicks will look scrappy until they get all of their feathers then they'll be much prettier

I have 12 Black Australorp's and 22 more in the incubator. All of mine are black & yellowish-white colored and they are in the process of getting their feathers. Right now they look a little scraggly. But the lady I got them from all of hers had a lot of green shine to them and that's what I'm waiting for.
