Hey guys and girls,

I have my new cock quail today and have some girls coming for him in a week or two. I know that these hens won't go broody or sit on their eggs and I cant really afford an incubator at the moment. I want to experiment with broody bantams, but not sure where to start. I have a wyandotte bantam who goes broody, but I think she'll be still to heavy for the eggs and the hatchlings. Here my question.

Whats the smallest, broodiest bantam out there?

Serama? Sebrights?

Warmly,

Richard

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to suggest that you could build an incubator for pretty cheap. I made mine for less than $25. It's basically just a styrofoam cooler, a light bulb, and a small fan. There's lots of good how-to's out there.

I hope someone else can answer your question. I personally have a silkie that I plan on using to try and hatch quail when she goes broody.
