Which Breed Do You Prefer??

What breed do you like better: Khaki Campbells or Cayuga? Why?

I have an opportunity to get a foursome of either breed, so I'm debating on which one to get. I would like the eggs, but I also want friendly birds. Plus, the Cayugas are prettier than the Khakis IMO.

I have a couple Rouens, a Khaki male, and 6 Cayugas. I ADORE my Cayugas! I have seperated them out and will be attempted to hatch some more. My Khaki drake is a little more friendly, but I've had him longer. My Cayuga females will come right up and eat out of your hands even after being picked up. I love their coloration and they have been laying up a storm for me.

I would have to say Cayugas. The Khakis lay more eggs, but Cayugas are beautiful birds. And when they do lay eggs, they lay lots and lots of them.

Now, you see, everyone thinks that Cayugas are so pretty - but I prefer the subtle Khaki tones of the Campbell, and I like that their plumage softly lightens with age, rather than becoming all splotched with white.

I have 2 of them right now, both girls. They each lay almost an egg per day from March until November. They are quite the little personalities, and I'd think they would be far more efficient on their feed than a Cayuga would be.

BUT - here's a solution to your Campbell/Cayuga dilemma: Get Dark Campbells! They're a beautiful, rich, dark brown and are little egg machines true to their breed. Not to mention - I'll be hatching some next spring!

Lol... I'd love to but it's either khakis or cayugas... It's such a hard choice!
