Which breed on average lays bigger eggs?

Buffs, Australorps, and commercially bred sex-links can all lay large, extra-large, to even jumbo sized eggs.

But you'll get more of them up to a larger size faster with a commercially bred sex-link.

For as long as any other hen and longer than some. They don't "burn out" as some folks believe though they do slow down in their laying as any hen will. I've got some going on five years old that still lay. Not nearly as well as they did when they were pullets but they do still lay.

It's more in how you feed and manage them than anything else.

I work at Townline hatchery and see eggs from all the breeds we hatch and the ISA browns( red sex inks) are in a class by themselfs. Their eggs are bigger, browner and much better quality shells than another breed that we sell.

Delawares are supposed to lay up to jumbo-sized eggs. I've got a couple of them in my flock but they aren't old enough to lay eggs yet.

I have a production red that laid another double yolker yesterday....

My largest eggs always come from my FBCMarans.... and she lays about 4-5 a week.

Thanks, ya i have a FBCMarans in my flock... can't wait till she's old enough to lay
