We have a few bald eagle nesting pairs by me. There is even one that nests in a school parking lot tree. I think they have a youtube nesting cam

It is nice to see them regularly. When I was a kid I never saw one. I remember at Guntersville State Park which was near my growing up place they announced they were introducing 50 if I remember correctly and everyone was excited. There was even viewing areas they announced to go and probably get to see them. As years went by and if you saw one it was big deal. You had to tell someone, “oh wow, I saw a Bald Eagle today”. Now, it is common place to see them all over the State. I rarely go out on the river and not see at least one.

You know, I heard an interesting theory about why we always heard growing up that bald eagles were mostly piscivores, but people now report with them being more common, people report them eating other things like domestic poultry, etc. It had to do with the populations that survived the DDT issues.

Not the toads
We came across a garter snake eating a toad on a hike a few years ago and it saddened me. My husband saw and asked if I wanted him to try to free it and I said, "No, that snake needs to eat, too."

Poor toad.

I saved one in the yard last year, I think. I could hear it screaming, so I made the rat snake let it go.
