I miss the old wood heater from growing up, but I don’t miss getting all the wood every year. I would love to have a wood heater at least for backup.

We heat almost entirely with wood (mostly oak), with propane as a backup. The kids have space heaters in their rooms. No point using propane to heat this entire house, we'd go broke. It's a big old 4-BR with a basement (DH and I sleep down there). Our room is typically almost 10° colder than the ground floor year round, but we have electric blankets. We buy wood and have it delivered.

Request from the meanies. My family has been very icky about this whole situation with the grandfather. I know it might be weird, but if any of you feel strongly about veterans and the service they gave their country, would any of you mind putting a little something on his tribute wall? All the stuff will be printed in a tribute book, and despite me not having any kids, it might be nice to show little Greyson and Larkin how cool their great-grandfather was in the future.
