I've done the "burn off the rotten cancer spots" thing a few times at the dermotologist, so I try really hard to protect myself now. Coastal sun exposure is way different than in the desert though, so I'm cooked in about 15 minutes. Big floppy hat , UV blocking sun shirt, and SPF 1 million for the win. May look dumb, but so does melanoma.
