Measuring doesnt matter. except when baking, unless you want baking soda clumped biscuits.

I don't know, I think that measuring stuff would be pretty important. Don't really want a faulty liver from medicine overdose, ya know?

I'm trying to picture how roller skating on counters would work. Don't you have cupboards overhead?

We don't. All the stuff is under the counter. More headspace. Easier to clean.
Of course, it was all nullified by the hood of the stove, which just so happens to have claimed even more headbonks from mellow adults than my mother's elbow has from sprinting small children.
(She's a wonderful woman, it's just that all her children were highly energetic and had a few years where their forehead leveled with her very sharp elbow).
