I'm no expert but why don't you post your idea anyway and we'll see if anyone has any insight for you.

I think I still need to have a registered business and sell the birds under that name, and then it would become common law. Idk how that works if I tell the internet my idea, and then someone else beats me to selling the birds...

Sex linked hybrids are fairly common, I doubt someone could even "steal" the idea. Whatever it is has probably been done dozens of times by backyard breeders.

I got a new laptop today! Just spent 15 minutes turning off/uninstalling all the bloatware....

Protip for future reference. Just download a new windows install image and reinstall the thing. It's just as fast and really makes sure to clean all the vendor crapware off of it. Your laptop is still licensed even with a fresh windows install (MS tracks the CPU ID for licensing) so you can reactivate it without having to pay for a new copy.

Exactly! Plus most if not all hatcheries come up with their own ideas and really don’t take ideas from other people. Unless you’re like super famous or something. Like Meyer worked with a popular chicken author for a few of their hybrids. But highly doubt they’d take ideas from a random person. So I guess get famous first

Then breed them under whatever designer name you have. Make big articles about why your hybrid is the best hybrid out there, tell people why your lines are the purest.
Then if the people like em take what you have to a hatchery and see if they'll bite
