I'm a member of the Arbor Day Society so they send me trees every year. I think the only ones that are doing any good are the Hawthornes. Everything else burned to a crisp when it got hot or the geese found them in four acres worth of grass and nommed them off at the ground.I tried to get some apple trees this spring, but apparently there’s a shortage of those too. I missed my opportunity this year. I’ll have to be on top of my game next year. What kind are your baby trees?

I used to keep fruit trees like plums, peaches, etc. and some fruiting vines (muscadine, blackberry, raspberry, etc.) in the chicken pens but when we moved here I scrapped the plans to do that. I didn't see any point in attracting varmits to eat the fallen fruit and the sleeping chickens.
I know danger when I see it.
