That was so weird to me when I moved to Virginia from New York after getting married. My parents are from New England where I guess it's pretty common to eat them sweet so that's how I grew up eating them. I didn't even know it was a thing to eat them savory until I moved further South.

Confession lol I really didn’t know what you meant. I have never heard anything but just grits. I said savory because they certainly are not sweet. Now, I have ate cornbread that is sweet and I don’t like it. I have never heard of sweet grits, though

Yeah, my mom always served them topped with evaporated milk, butter, and brown sugar.

I would try it for sure. But I don’t usually like sweet unless it is dessert.

You should try it. You might not like since nice you grew up with them sweet. But, you never know. I love them.

When I was younger, sweet.
Now its always Savory.

Sometimes just grits. But, yes you can put cheese which I did today or you can put some ham or bacon in them.
