that’s really cool and i have to imagine it’s beautiful to see in person. thanks for sharing. where is this?
Lacombe Louisiana
Here was a big Choctaw settlement cause it was right on the bayou cause they were excellent canoe builders and fished, hunted and went from area to area by water. But still close to the lake for good fishing. Matter of fact it is said my town bayou Lacombe was named by the Choctaw. Meaning many mosquitos or something in thier language. True story
There's also alot of Indian burial ground mounds that no and I mean nobody F's with. Nope them spirits ain't following me home

A little thing that is done in my village. The lighting if the Graves on all saints day. It's a ritual brought with the Choctaw Indians. The Choctaw used to call it the night of the dead where they went into the woods late at night once a year and buit fires to show thier ancestors where they were to talk to the spirits. It was pickup up by the catholic creoles and now is more to pay omage to thier ancestors

There's about 3 cemeteries in the village that I live that do this. Quite beautiful but has been known to freak out tourists who have never seen it. These cemeteries are either in the woods or off the road a little so it can get quite dark and spiritual
I'll bet that is beautiful in person with the flames dancing in the wind with that Spanish moss moving in the cool autumnal breeze.

No I got whole half a house available. 2 bedrooms and a full bath. I'd cook and be a badass tour guide weather the woods bayou swamp or the new Orleans city life or even the Acadiana and plantation tour
I would come. You always have beautiful photos. You could show us the best spots.

What's wild is the music the Choctaw descendants play. Drums and recorder type instruments with their howling. It's a very unique experience

My wife is from Kentucky and really likes what she calls the horror movie spooky trees lol the giant oaks with the moss all hanging down. The Choctaw used horse hair and moss as there bed Cushing
