I've never seen a super sharp hook point before, my other gut hook knives had a bit of a rounded point.

That’s what I was thinking. Maybe more hide splitting and less gut hooking.

That knife is a combination of my 2 favorite skinning knives.

How do you sharpen the gut hook/ hide splitter? I have a similar knife.

Nothing much more relaxing than sitting on the deck sharpening the chainsaw drinking a cut of coffee and eyeing the neighbor.

Making chicken stock with veggie scraps I've saved and the rooster we butchered.. a few weeks ago. You can't see them but the cleaned feet are at the bottom. Hopefully I get enough to can some quarts

I ain’t eating the foot of anything unless I am starving and there is no way to scrounge up something else.

I’d might would eat a cockroach first. Not sure.

That’s what I was thinking. Maybe more hide splitting and less gut hooking.

Yeah, I could see dragging it through the hide, but it's point is far too sharp for some of the things I do with my other knives.
Honestly I think I'll let the point get dull just for safety reasons, I can make the initial puncture with the blade.
