I've pondered and would like to get a 20' shipping container (the shorter of the two ) and set it right next to the back bedroom and put siding and a small roof so it looks like an addition matching and stuff. Make a smaller door withing the regular door that slides as opposed to swings and be able to get in it without going outside. Set it up like a mini house with bath and kitchen. May sound kinda extreme but Katrina showed me what can and has happened. For tornados too. I don't ever want to relive that but just incase.
you can build some beautiful things out of shipping containers.

Pondering a 2 or 3 high workshop with them as the walls. All that storage space!
i think they’re about 8-9ft tall. 3 high would be a REALLY tall workshop. but a cool use for them nonetheless.

i looked into having a greenhouse built out of a 20 footer for my wife, as i had access to some surplus containers through work, but getting it here and prepped and…and…was more than i was willing to spend.

it’s gonna be cheaper to have one constructed on site for her.

I love shipping container houses. But how would that be more hurricane resistant? I would think it might be less so

Wayy stronger. Solid steel and it's not going anywhere. It can be strapped just for safe keeping. The metal is very thick and solid. I've been in several. Even the door is like shutting a vault or walk in safe lol

With it being continously welded together there's no way for high winds to get in and under a stick built roof to blow it off and after that it's over with a regular house
